3 Hours for Pantai Remis, Kuala Selangor

Sunday afternoon. Ennui. Hot and sunny.

Somewhere breezy but not too far. Preferably no toll.

Perfectly summed up any other idle Sunday, Pumpkin and I have decided the best dessert of the day is a beach, so after a quick scroll on Google and Waze, we finally hit onto a Pantai Remis, Kuala Selangor.

For those living in Kuala Selangor, Klang or Setia Alam, this beach, famous for its infinite clams (by the way, remis means shellfish or clams) is your neighbourhood hangout spot. Located just about 20km from Setia Alam, we drove along Jalan Kapar and saw the sign of Pantai Remis after a 40 minutes drive (it felt longer as there were row of lights). Turning left onto a small village road, it merely took another 10 minutes to add another new beach to our discovery list.

Quite an hour and a half before sunset, the sun was still fierce and hot above us, and this particular day wasn't even windy. But let us assure you'll pretty much forget about the heat with the calm wave and soft leaves whispering sweet melodies to your ears. In fact we didn't really see anyone bothered about it (apart from me, who was well, hiding under a tree after a 30-minute "wave-kicking").

There were families having picnics, children swimming or flying kites, and many others who just like me, preferred to sit and chat with their companies. Of course, there's Pumpkin who couldn't stop snapping shots here and there, trying to satisfy his own photography skills (disclaimer: photos taken here are not from Pumpkin though, his way up better. Update soon:)) Admittedly that was a good choice if you got those shot-fever, here the beach is not much littered, water is clean though not clear and there's no developments nearby to obstruct your angles. In other words, any shot is just pretty if you enjoy it. To emphasise further the beau, there's an Indian couple who purposedly came to take their outdoor wedding shots here. Lovely.

Though the crowd was not many, but we can deduce that the spot is a favourite among locals, and a quick Google would tell you this is a popular beach for fishing too. While we were waiting for the sunset, we joined a group of young guys who were netting in some shells and prawns. If you are hungry at this point, one Malay seafood stall is located just at the entrance roadside.

Sunset usually starts between 6:50pm to 7:30pm. If you like Chinese seafood afterwards, there are a few choices along Jalan Kapar. We had one at a restaurant on the left, 10 minutes after you turn into Jalan Kapar.

Of course, further up there's more "i-can-go" places to roam in Kuala Selangor (links coming up):
